ASSIST
Project description
The main objective of ASSIST project (Advanced platform for Stainless Steel agIng and cracking aSsessmenT) is to address the complex synergy of non-linear phenomena, specifically corrosion, triggered by static and dynamic loading, as well as chemistry transients, in standard steels used in PWR reactors. The focus lies on understanding their interplay and coupling, particularly in relation to stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, or environmentally assisted cracking, to assure the prolonged, safe operation of NPPs. Its secondary goal is to develop guidelines for small-scale mechanical tests, to enable the Acceleration Qualification Paths of new materials for nuclear applications.
